Giving to Ateneo
The Ateneo de Zamboanga University strives to make quality education accessible to individuals coming from the lower income strata but who manifest superior academic aptitude.
In the last few years, the University has worked hard at increasing the number of scholarships. The ultimate goal is to have the means to provide financial aid to at least 50% of the college population. At present only 30% of the students are enjoying some form financial aid. Of the 1058 scholars, 861 are subsidized by the Ateneo. Although this adds considerable financial strain, we believe that it is worth the sacrifice. Education is a vital force for a developing country like the Philippines.
We are also working at offering more scholarships for cultural communities especially for those who are interested to go into teaching. We believe that this is one area that can help effect changes towards progress and peace in the region and in the country.
In view of these, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University seeks and welcomes generous individuals who want to help us achieve our goal. The donor of the scholarship may give to it a name or title – for example as a memorial for parents or even the name of the donor.
