Home | English Department
The English Department is committed in forming students to be eloquent, creative, and critical thinkers, speakers, and writers. The teaching of rhetoric allows students to skillfully and creatively use the English language as a means for self-expression and communication. The study of literature immerses the students and opens them up to a time and culture seemingly apart, yet fundamentally similar, to their own reality. It is the goal of the department that, with its instruction, students are able to express themselves evidencing sound logic, clear rhetoric, and a firm ground in humanistic values. Thus, the students are in the process of living up to the Jesuit ideal of eloquentia perfecta.
